Shabby Chic Style Reclaimed Wood Frame - patina accented frame with easel

Kuttlefish is currently not accepting orders. Feel free to browse our content and please check back soon!

Primitive style wood frame with layered paint treatments and burnished gold highlights.

I found some old wood slats left in the garage when we moved into our home. So I sawed, glued and color-washed them with watered down leftover acrylic paints in barn red, country blue and green for a patina effect. Attached to the frame front are a red heart, yellow moon and blue bird, sanded for an antique effect. Finally, an antique gold paste was applied and rubbed on.

The frame can stand or be hung with an attached black easel back. The easel back has a hinged opening and acrylic picture covering (See sample photo).

Picture opening is approximately 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". Overall size is 7" x 5 1/2".

The handmade paper collage currently in the frame is included. It is a collage hand-cut from junk mail and layered onto a sheet of handmade paper, also made from junk mail. You can certainly replace it with your own photos."

I'm looking for gold in them thar mounds of trash.

Discards are my favorite raw material.. Any discards that spark an idea, or make an impression, are there for the taking. Who knows?....That trash might transform into paper beads, rag bags, trinkets, jewelry, organizers - whatever.

It's all thoroughly cleaned before working with it. Most items will be unique and will not be in multiple quantities - and there will always be something new.
