UP-CYCLED 1950s CAR MIRROR
Here's a fun piece of automobile history up-cycled for a second life for many different uses. It is a circa 1950s to early 1960s car door mirror which has been mounted on a piece of wood. The mirror is made of chrome-plated steel and stands 6.5" (16.5cm) tall, 7" (17cm) long and 4.5" (11cm) wide. The mirror is 4.5" (11cm) in diameter. This cool piece of mid century automobilia would make a fun shaving or make-up mirror, used as a bookend or looks great sitting on a desk or shelf. The wood base is 1/2" (1cm) thick cedar with a medium dark stain and several coats of satin polyurethane.
This old car mirror is in pretty good shape considering its age. The chrome is nice and shiny but has some pitting and rough spots mainly on the back side of the mirror. We found a few very tiny specs of rust but nothing major. The mirror is clear and free of cracks but does have a few small, light scratches.
